| Discovery 3 is the result of an exhaustive £1.5 billion development programme - and it shows. It will allow Land Rover to take on the likes of the BMW X5 for 4x4 sales at the upper end of the SUV market. With sensational looks, futuristic design cues and plenty of practical touches, the new Disco is a huge leap forward compared to the last model. Super-smooth air sprung suspension irons out the bumps, lack of body roll is impressive for such a tall vehicle and steering is precise. An optional third row of seats also adds MPV load carrying capacity. The 2.7-litre bi-turbo engine is beautifully refined and makes some rivals feel agricultural by comparison. Avoid the V8 petrol - it's way too thirsty. |
